Finding mindful moments in nature.

Maybe you're like me, not much of a camper, living in a suburban or urban area, and just so "busy" all the time. We hear it all the time: connect to nature, unplug, get back to basics. But what if that just can't happen as a weekend camping trip? Or you've just got so much to do with work, family, and other commitments? Could just a few mindful moments a day help us to capture the same feeling? I think so.
“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished" ~ Lao Tzu
Maybe it's the one minute you wake up and the sun is streaming in your bedroom window. Before you jump out of bed to start your hectic day, take one minute to close your eyes, bring a slight smile to your face and feel the warmth of the sun soak into your skin.
Maybe it's at a stop sign and you see a tree growing out of the concrete sidewalk and you take a few moments to think on the resiliency of nature.
Maybe you've carved out a few minutes to walk the dog and you take a few breaths to feel the breeze move through your hair.
Connect to nature through your yoga practice
I practice my yoga outdoors whenever possible. Try bringing your mat out to your balcony, back deck, pool deck, or back lawn. Maybe ev
en take a short walk to your local park and unroll your mat if you don't mind curious onlookers. Whenever you get the change to practice #yoga outside, you're bringing your mindful practice into nature, and nature into your mindful practice.
My #zoom classes are all practiced outside with views of the gardens, trees, and #lakeontario when weather permits. I will also be opening some spots for in person classes outside in my #oshawa backyard, so if you're looking to add more nature to your practice, keep posted for when those limited spots open. The beautiful, calming sounds of the the water, the wind in the trees, and the birds help to deepen my mindful connection to nature.
